My Story
I started my payroll career in 2004. Like many before me, I fell into it. I worked for a small family-owned restaurant as the general manager and was asked to take on the responsibility relieving the owner of the task. Little did I know I would fall in love with payroll management and geek out on it.

Over the next few years, I had many roles all of which touched payroll in one way or another at various companies.

The great recession of 2008 hit and I found myself looking for a new job. I was given the opportunity to work for a janitorial company as a payroll clerk. The company merged in 2009 with another janitorial company, and I was given more payroll responsibilities, as well as various accounting duties - and transferred to San Diego.

My first major project was to integrate the two payroll systems by moving the outsourced payroll to in-house processing, where we did everything, including managing time, paying employees, submitting union dues and benefit payments to various vendors, and filing and submitting taxes in multiple states.
​
I moved to a different janitorial company and assisted with improving their payroll and accounting functions by introducing new systems and processes. We implemented an industry specific Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system that included payroll.​​
